How Summon Studio delivers projects two times faster with Workflow

One major benefit we’ve noticed is that we need to communicate less. Everything is clear in Workflow, and we move faster because it’s async.

Can you tell us about yourself and Summon Studio?

I’m Maximilian, co-founder of Summon Studio. We started small three years ago, and now we’re a team of 6–9 people, including motion designers, UX designers, and web developers. We specialise in 0-1 packages for clients in SaaS, AI, Web3, and finance, delivering everything from branding to product design.

Why did you switch to Workflow and what tools did it replace?

We were using Linear and Trello before, but they just weren’t cutting it. Linear, in particular, was very difficult to use. I didn’t utilise 90% of the features in Linear. It felt cumbersome at times, and my team and I struggled to navigate it. I don’t see Linear working well with a small creative team.

Trello had its own issues. The UX of Trello didn’t align with our workflow, and managing multiple boards per client was a hassle.

Workflow solved these problems by offering an intuitive platform designed for creative teams.

How do you manage creative projects in Workflow?

Workflow has simplified our processes significantly. When starting a new project in Workflow, the first step is setting it up on the platform and adding my team members. Once the team is in place, I add tasks and assign them to the relevant team members.

As we work, designers upload their iterations directly to these tasks. This keeps everything organised and in one place. This is where I come in. I review the designs, leave comments, and suggest changes directly on the platform. The team sees my feedback, makes revisions, and uploads new versions. It’s a smooth back-and-forth process.

I’d say we’re moving twice as fast as we did before. We’ve also started using Workflow’s integrated screen recording feature, which is much faster than using separate tools like Loom.

How do you involve clients or stakeholders in Workflow? What do you think of it?

We manage everything for our clients within Workflow. We share work with them using the Workflow share links, and they leave comments directly on the platform. The best part? Not a single client has asked how to use it. Everyone finds it incredibly intuitive, which is a huge relief since it means we spend zero time on tech support. It’s really simplified our client communication.

What’s your favourite Workflow feature?

Being able to put snapshots of designs directly from Figma into the platform is a game-changer. It is incredibly efficient to upload and manage design assets without having to dig through Figma. That’s especially important for clients.
